COMMUNITY REPAIR CLINICS
A bike will never get used if it doesn’t work. Something as simple as a flat tire or loose cable can change a bike into something that will simply be discarded.
Many of our communities have easier access to a replacement bike than they do to getting their bike fixed. And often those new bikes are so inexpensive that it is more beneficial for people in these communities to just replace the broken bike.
Not only is this expensive in the long run, but it can also severely limit a persons mobility and send piles of perfectly usable items to the landfill.
Pedal Forward puts repair versus replace at the forefront of many of these communities by showing them not only the benefits of repairing their bike, but also giving them the knowledge needed to perform a lot of these small repairs themselves. Patching a tube is a very cheap and easy fix. But you need to know how to do it.
